PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF TAX ROLL AND WARRANT

            TAKE NOTICE, that I Lawrence O. Proper, the undersign Collector of Taxes of the Town of Copake, County of Columbia and State of New York, have duly received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes within the Town of Copake for the Year 2012, and that I will attend at 230 Mountain View Road in the Town of Copake on regular business hours Monday thru Thursday 9:00AM to 3:00PM, Friday and Saturday 9:00AM to 12:00PM for receiving the taxes listed on the said roll.

            TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that taxes may be paid on or before January 31, 2012 without charge or interest. On all taxes received after such date, there shall be added interest 1% per month until such taxes are paid or until returned of unpaid taxes to the County Treasurer pursuant to law.

            TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that pursuant to the provisions of law the tax roll of the Town of Copake will be returned to the County Treasurer of the County of Columbia on the 1st  day of June 2012.

In accordance with Section 516 of the NYS Real Property Tax Law, notice is hereby given that the 2011 Final Assessment Roll for the Town of Copake has been completed and a certified copy thereof has been filed in the office of the Town Clerk for public inspection.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT a copy of the Columbia County 2011 Budget is available for review in the Town Clerk's Office in Town Hall.

Parks Commission Student

Youth Member

Requirements:

·        Must reside in Township of Copake

·        Must attend Park Commission meetings

·        Parks Commission Student must be in grade 10,11, or 12 in fall

·        Youth Member must be in grade 7, 8, or 9 in fall

Job Description:

·        Attend monthly meetings

·        Share ideas with Park Commission

·        Volunteer at Park functions

·        Work with assigned Mentor

·        Work with Joan Spencer on bullying

·        Encourage other students to volunteer at the Park

·        Attend at least one Town Board meeting when a Park issue is presented

Term:

·        One year – running January through December

Merit Program Requirements: 

·        Formulate and present a minimum of one Mini-Grant Proposal for a Park event or activity

·        Lead in execution of approved Mini-Grant

·        Work with other Parks Commission Students on their mini-grants

·        Update Copake Memorial Park Facebook page

·        Update Copake Memorial Park website

·        Complete term

NOTIFICATION OF EMERGENCIES

In December the heavy snow was declared an emergency situation by Columbia County's  Emergency Office Center. This information was made available by the Town Supervisor to town officials and others  as a safety precaution. In the future the Town of Copake will provide notification of such emergencies to anyone who wishes to receive them.

An email account, emergencycopake@hotmail.com, has been created for this purpose. If you would like to receive such notifications, please send your email address to the above account.

Note that this email address is solely for the purpose of notification of emergencies. All questions or remarks should be sent to the usual addresses and telephones in town hall.
