GUIDE TO PLANNING AND ZONING LAWS OF NEW YORK STATE
After clicking Guide to Planning and Zoning Laws of New York State , go to Download Guide to Planning and Zoning Laws.
(You will need Adobe's Reader to download the file.)

This publication, part of the Department of State's "James A. Coon Local Government Technical Series," is designed to help municipal officials and attorneys make more efficient use of planning and zoning laws. The guide provides the text of each pertinent section of law with notations in the margin to assist referencing. Notes at the end of certain sections reference other related statues and list Department publications, if any. To ensure optimal use of this guide, readers should know:

Although each section of law is printed verbatim, marginal notations are not part of the statutes. They have been added to highlight key points only.   More than one set of statues may apply to a municipal action. For example, provisions of the Town Law naturally govern towns, but important provisions affecting town planning and zoning laws also appear in the General Municipal Law, the Public Health Law and others. Therefore, all applicable statues should be consulted.

This booklet contains the text of the statues through the 2006 legislative session. It replaces ALL previous versions.

Readers are encouraged to use the publication to request additional publications, or to download the publications from the Department of State Webpage at: http://www.dos.state.ny.us.

TOWN OF COPAKE

NOTIFICATION OF EMERGENCIES

In December the heavy snow was declared an emergency situation by Columbia County's  Emergency Office Center. This information was made available by the Town Supervisor to town officials and others  as a safety precaution. In the future the Town of Copake will provide notification of such emergencies to anyone who wishes to receive them.

An email account, emergencycopake@hotmail.com, has been created for this purpose. If you would like to receive such notifications, please send your email address to the above account.

Note that this email address is solely for the purpose of notification of emergencies. All questions or remarks should be sent to the usual addresses and telephones in town hall.
